James Davenport - Astronomy Professor and Science Communicator

I love engaging audiences with science, sharing the wonder of discovery and the excitement of exploring the unknown. I give dynamic, story-driven talks that balance humor and cutting edge science. My goal is to help audiences discover the beauty of the Universe, and find their place within it.

My recent talks focus on finding extraterrestrial life in the Universe, big data in astronomy, and projects such as the Rubin Observatory or TESS mission. I’m a frequent speaker at science outreach events around Seattle including Astronomy on Tap Seattle and Emerald City Comic Con, and am a regular commentator in news and media.
